Zurrón
2025. Xalda wool, cochineal, eucalyptus leaves, chestnut tree leaves, bay leaves, oak leaves, brass.
This is a reinterpretation of the traditional satchel worn by shepherds in the Asturian countryside. The zurrón represents cultural fusion —mestizaje— both in the hybrid materials with which it was created and in its intended purpose. The things to be collected along the way will be sustained—literally, by a hybrid fabric—by the very fusion that is so intrinsic to my identity.
